The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA), a municipal entity of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality (NMBM) and acting as its development agent, hereby invites proposals from Lead Employers who require the services and partnership of a suitable Host Employer
The MBDA has various departments and the resources required to provide a workplace experience to qualified graduates in their different fields of study, however the Agency does not have the necessary funds. The Agency is able to offer workplace experience to graduates in the following departments:
a. 1x – Human Resources
b. 1x – Marketing
c. 2x – Operations (Project Management and Building Sciences)
d. 1x – Supply Chain
e. 1x – Legal services
f. 1x – Research & Innovation
The Agency wishes to form a partnership with suitable Lead Employers who are able to sponsor the graduate(s) for the full duration of their workplace experience.
The Agency is compliant with its duties in terms of all applicable legislation.
Commitment:
By agreeing to be a host employer, we agree to give trainees specific job responsibilities and exposure to as many departments and administrators as possible.
As part of the Host Employer requirements, we will also fulfil the following duties:
a) Provide the graduate with workplace experience in their specific field of study with specific outcomes;
b) Monitor the graduate’s progress and conduct monthly feedback sessions;
c) Advise graduate of workplace policies and procedures;
d) Providing quality supervision essential in establishing a successful experiential learning opportunity;
e) Ensure that the training and internship program will provide a balance between the participants’ learning opportunities and their contributions to the organization;
f) Will conduct required midpoint and final evaluations;
The EOI document, outlining the requirements will be provided to interested bidders upon the payment of a non-refundable fee of R150.00. The documents will be available electronically from Monday 08 February 2021. Interested parties must send proof of payment with contact details to publictenders@mbda.co.za quoting “WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE (MBDA EOI 11/20)” in the subject line.

A non-compulsory clarification session will be held on Monday, 15 February 2021 at 10:00 am via Microsoft Teams. Interested bidders must indicate their interest to attend the session by Monday 15 February 2021 at 09:00 to publictenders@mbda.co.za
The closing date and time is Thursday 11 March 2021 at 12h00; where after tenders will be publicly opened. Proposals MUST be submitted on one (1) original hard copy plus one (1) electronic copy (CD or USB), and must be placed in a sealed envelope and clearly marked with “WORKPLACE EXPERIENCE (MBDA EOI 11/20)”
FAILURE TO SUBMIT AN ORIGINAL HARD COPY AND A COPY ON EITHER USB OR CD WILL DEEM THE BID NON-RESPONSIVE. All responses must be placed in the MBDA tender box marked “MBDA EOI 11/20” on the 1st Floor, Tramways Building, Corner Lower Valley Road & South Union Street, Central, Port Elizabeth. Bids may only be submitted on bid documentation provided by the MBDA.
No late, incomplete or facsimile bids will be accepted for consideration. The only or lowest bid received shall not necessarily be accepted. MBDA reserves the right to accept part or the full bid.
The RFP document will indicate the method to submit proposals as well as all the requirements that needs to be included in your proposal to the MBDA.
Proposals shall be evaluated based on applicants meeting the pre-qualification criteria and certain functionality requirements and shall thereafter be evaluated on the 80/20 preference points system in accordance with the Supply Chain Management Policy of the MBDA and the Preferential Procurement Regulations, 2017.
