In addition to working as a marine geophysicist, my son volunteers as a wildfire fighter. Recently they were called out to assist late at night to deal with a controlled burn that went out of control. The volunteers in charge described what to expect and provided instructions on how to fight the fire based on that knowledge. When they got to the infernal pine forest it was not burning as expected, but worse. He described the situation as those of Californian wildfires - dystopian.

The Mandela Bay Development Agency (MBDA) is recognizing strides made in Helenvale via the Safety and Peace through Urban Upgrading (SPUU) programme by dedicating a series of activities during the #HelenvaleWeek from the 4th to the 9th of April 2022.

After years of approval delays, the Mandela Bay Development Agency will now forge forth with the R6 million St Peters Precinct.

The Mandela Bay Development Agency handed over cricket equipment worth R90 000 to 4 Helenvale Schools and the Helenvale Cricket Club on the 16th of March.
