  Engineer's Representative

SINGAPHI ROAD ENVIRONMENTAL UPGRADE ( 24 month fixed term contract)
   
The Engineer’s Representative / SMME Co-ordinator will be responsible for the Singaphi Road Environmental Upgrade Project . Input will also be required on an ad-hoc basis on other infrastructure upgrade projects.

 Key performance areas are:

 • Reporting on all aspects as required by the Consulting Engineer

• Maintain a full-time presence on site (Level 3 Construction Monitoring)

• Assisting emerging contractors with tender processes & attend meetings with their relevant representative bodies

• Assisting the MBDA and Main Contractor with the assessment and appointment of emerging contractors

• Assisting emerging contractors on site with administrative and technical aspects of their work packages allocated

• Attend relevant meetings on behalf of the MBDA • Investigate the viability and framework of a CIDB Contractor Development Program for the MBDA

• Document all emerging contractor related aspects during the upgrade of Singaphi Road

• Advising the Project Manager of any potential areas of risks or conflict

• Interacting with stakeholders (meeting, workshops, correspondence)

 • Conduct workshops with community members, identified by the Ward Councilor for registration with the CIDB.

Incumbents must:

• Possess a tertiary qualification in Civil Engineering and be registered with ECSA in the category Pr.Tech or Pr.Eng OR proven experience as a Contractor’s Contracts Manager

• demonstrate an understanding and ability to work with emerging contractors (CIDB grades 1 to 3)

• Have at least 10 years relevant experience in the civil engineering or civil construction industry with specific experience in road construction

• Have a good understanding of appropriate legislation governing the construction sector and experience in CIDB’s requirements

• Have experience in construction contract administration

• Possess strong management, communication and computer literacy skills (MS Office and MS Project)

• Have excellent conflict resolution and conflict management skills
